Llama is a typical Japanese town. Great for a walk, but one day is plenty! Madarao ski resort scenery, location is wonderful. Madarao is a small village about 25 minutes away by bus from Iiyama. It is very accessible from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Dinner has to be booked in advance since there are not too many choices. Room was a good size for a Japanese hotel, lovely view of the mountains from the room. Large buffet for breakfast and dinner with a good selection of food. Hotel had its own onsen which was great. Lift to/from the main ski area each day as required but we often walked as it was so close and easy. We were picked up from and dropped off at local train stations (Myokokogen and Iiyama respectively) by a staff member. Food was good particularly the one dinner we had at Maroudo. The outdoor onsen was breathtaking when it snowed and every thing you needed was right there.
