Monticchiello is a great hill top village to stay overnight when travelling through Tuscany. Beautifully quiet in the evening but with a number of restaurants to choose from to suit all tastes. It's a small citadel village in Tuscany with a lot of character. It's best to brush up on Italian language skills before going as you can't fully get away with just English. It has a great circular walk around the fortress walls that leads into the inner part where houses and restaurants come with great stories and are inhabited by great people. Francesco is a lovely host at la casa di Adelina.
Francesco is a lovely host at la casa di Adelina. He immediately made us feel right at home as he showed us around the shared spaces and our private space. He also shared the fascinating history of his family and the "casa." He is a wonderful baker and prepared beautiful, delicious breakfasts each morning. He answered every question we had about the town, allowing us to explore with confidence. He made excellent recommendations.
