The first weeks of September is the wrong time to visit Florence --super crowded! Even with paid tours of the major museums we saw only a tiny part of each. Come early in the Spring or later in the Fall. There are plenty of beautiful museums and palaces, and you need at least 2-3 days to see some of them. Of course, it is still not enough time to see everything, but enough to be overwhelmed by their beauty and history. If you don’t like visiting museums, probably, it is better to find another place for your holiday, because there are so many tourists in Florence, that the centre is overcrowded. Nice to know that the first Sunday of every month the museums are free, which can help to save a lot. Also the Florence Cathedral is not open for visitors on Sundays, but there are three services during the day. The architecture of Florence is amazing!
