We wanted a smaller, quieter town with some historic interest and Asti was exactly that. We thoroughly enjoyed being there. People are patient and friendly.
People are patient and friendly. There is a wide variety of food available. We were there at a busy time, but were still able to do most of the things we wanted. People (drivers included), in both towns and cities, are courteous and helpful even if Italian is not spoken. Extensive road network although narrow in smaller towns. Many tourist attractions, especially cultural, such as museums, art galleries. Vineyards abound in the region, where Ruché is the indigenous grape. A very friendly town with good restaurants and good quality shops. If you are self catering there is a fabulous supermarket in the centre of town, wine shops with wine tasting, deli's and cheese shops. We had only a few days there but we will return.
