    Maheshwar is a very holy site on the banks of the Narmada river. The temples and ghats are a lovely site to experience. The town appears to be visited by very few foreign visitors; as such it is a very "chill" place where no one bothers you, even if you clearly stand out as a foreigner. Beyond the ghats, the town a pleasant environment to explore. Amongst the temples is a scattering of charming colonial-style buildings.

    The time of my visit was not the best as the best time to visit Maheshwar is between October to March, Sahastradhara waterfall view is at its peak during that time Other than that, Maheshwar has beautiful architectural monuments and temples to visit And the Narmada ghat is soothing and relaxing to visit in the evening, one can spend a good time there There is one place called Banke Bihari Bhojanalay, which provides authentic local food of Madhya Pradesh called Daal-Bafla, one must try it once during their visit to Maheshwar

    Trip to Devi Ahilyabhai palace was great.

    Trip to Devi Ahilyabhai palace was great. There is so little that we learn in school of such great Indian rulers. Trip to Shasrdhara on the Narmada was a great trip. Take a guide at the palace so that you can ensure that all the key places are visited and you get a good account of the history. ( Guide is around Rs 550 for a full visit).

    Excellent location with historical and religious...

    Excellent location with historical and religious significance. Maheshwar used to be the Capital during reign of Ahilyabai Holkar. The town is on the banks of Narmada river, on the ghats of which, one can spend endless hours. Maheshwari sarees are a must-buy. The place is clearly the inspiration for movie Baahubali. The ancient name for this town was Mahishmati, which was used in the movie as-is. The grand temple structures in the town were visible in the movie too.

    Excellent place, well maintained.

    Excellent place, well maintained. Ample and safe parking space for cars. Take a local Guide to cover all the interesting places, Rs 500/-. Enjoy bath at Narmadaji, clean and fresh water. Good local food at Banke Bihari Hotel.

    Maheshwar is my favourite getaway.

    Maheshwar is my favourite getaway. I love the place and its rustic charm, the Narmada riverside and its peace and tranquility and its piousness. Definitely worth visiting this tapobhoomi of the mother Rani Ayilhyabai.
