We have been to Torquay several times over the years and generally have always found it to be a great place to be based. We use public transport, and it is easy to get to all the places around the bay. We particularly love going to Brixham, Paignton, Newton Abbot and Teignmouth and places in their vicinity. After a year in East Anglia the hills came as a bit of a shock. After day 3 we didn’t notice the ups and downs and enjoyed our daily walks. Rockfish? The shopping is extensive, as can be expected from a Holiday resort area, with local shops as well as main brand chains. The Wetherspoons pub in the town entre served well prepared meals and a great range of beers. Once you are in the bay area it is all flat and easy walking, but some of the slopes out of the town are a little heavy going. I tried the coastal path and have to say you do need to be fairly fit to get through some parts of it. Hotel offered free parking and I felt reassured that my car was left in a safe place during my stay. I had an issue with booking.com sending me emails in error - the host was reassuring with me and gave me a great room upon arrival. Will definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends!
