A historic and interesting small town - was a staging post on the Great North Road, hence it's closeness to the current A1. Also on East Coast main railway line so easy access. Free disc parking in town car parks and a good range of shops both national brands and local. Lidl and Morrisons supermarkets quite central. Lovely park with paddling pool and playground with old motte and bailey mound still there. Boating on the river in summer. Small castle but is a private residence. Close to Cragside and Wallington National trust properties and beach at Newbiggin. Northumberland Zoo nearby and well worth a visit with children. FANTASTIC LOCATION IN A COURTYARD AT THE BACK OF THE HIGH STREET WHICH HAS EVERYTHING NEEDED TO FILL A DAY. THERE IS A WONDERFUL PARK NEARBY WITH A BOATING LAKE, PLAY PARK AND LARGE ROUND OUTDOOR PADDLING POOL, WONDERFUL WALKS AND FACILITIES FOR FAMILIES, LOTS OF EATERYS AND PUBS. NOOKS AND CRANNYS TO EXPLORE AS WELL AS A DIVERSE RANGE OF SHOPS WITH THE LONG ESTABLISHED FAMILY DEPARTMENT STORE BUSINESS OF RUTHERFORDS WITH SMASHING TEA ROOM. I WAS PLEASED TO DISCOVER A WONDERFUL LEISURE CENTRE FACILITY NEARBY WITH POOLS, CHILDRENS PLAY AREA, CAFE AND LIBRARY. Found Morpeth a very clean town, and especially the parking system where you can purchase a disc for £1 and use it as often as you need in different car parks. Found it an excellent idea a nd charities benefit from it. Other towns should follow suit. Lovely upmarket shops as well as the usual ones. The place was very clean and such a nice warm feel with the exposed brickwork and wood. Well heated apartment with all the amenities I cooked Thai food first night after a few drinks down the street in nice hotels and bars Would recommend the property to anyone. It felt comfortable and as we had dogs with us I felt the extra sound proofing was a bonus to other guests. We didn't hear a peep from the other flats, which meant it felt like a home away from home.
