Iain and Jack were the absolute stars of One Drake Road, and everything was extraordinary, so that’s saying a lot. They are jovial and warm, welcoming and familiar and they gave us the best advice for every facet of our stay. They are the Devon and Cornwall tour guides that we didn’t expect, but certainly needed and we are SO grateful. Every time we would leave or arrive, the boys would pop their heads out of the front door to make sure we were sorted. This is the kind of service you could only expect from the best 5 star hotels. The property was also INCREDIBLE. We didn’t want to leave. It was clean and comfortable and homely, the boys have done an exceptional job on the design. It feels like home, but better decorated. The toiletries were out of this world. I didn’t need to wash my hair, but I did, because smelling like geranium felt like an opportunity I shouldn’t miss out on. We cannot wait to come back. Excellent location – right across from the bus stop and walking trails. Perfect for a short stay or a rest stop. The room is very clean and tidy, with great lighting and ventilation. The bathroom is spacious, and the bed is super comfortable.

Aa a hometown boy , I took my wife to my home town for our 20th. The Bedford could not have been better. You would not believe what you get for a 3*. The hotel is 200 years old; as is most of Tavistock, which dates back to 974AD. The room was lovely. And the fact that we had a four poster bed was an accidental perfect. Staff were really friendly and would accommodate anything we asked. Food was excellent and locacally sourced:. I know some of their suppliers from my childhood. Most of their suppliers are only a few minutes walk away. Plus note . Only 31 rooms in the hotel, so really cosy. My wife was really impressed with the bath cum jacuzzi. Not my thing..5 stars for everything. Definitely not a one time stay.. photos show some of Tavistock's hidden history.

The staff made every effort to keep us as comfortable as possible despite snow, ice and closed roads. Special thanks to Emma, who stayed in the hotel overnight to make sure everyone had breakfast in the morning. Very much appreciated the chef staying as late as he could before the roads became impassable to cook us an outstanding meal.

We have stayed here several times and once again, Tess and her team were excellent. The New Years eve meal was very very good with excellent service (as usual). We will be staying again as soon as we are able to.

I was visiting family in the area and having a dog it was a...

I was visiting family in the area and having a dog it was a great location . My time was spent in Tavistock and the surrounding area. Marytavy was a good base , if you enjoy the rural life , as I do. Morwellam quay and Lydford Gorge are well worth a visit. Lots of lovely walks on Dartmoor and in woods and beside rivers within the National Park. Tavistock is a great town with plenty history

Mary Tavy is a small peaceful village right on the edge of...

Mary Tavy is a small peaceful village right on the edge of Dartmoor. you can walk along to Peter Tavy and straight up to the Moor. It does have a pub and shop. The Tavy has places to sit or paddle. Lydford gorge national trust is closeby and beautiful. Tavistock or Okehampton are similar distances with a good variety of shops, pubs etc.

5 mins walk from Dartmoor National Park with break taking...

5 mins walk from Dartmoor National Park with break taking scenery. Felt like walking into a Sherlock Holmes novel with wide open moors, full farming activities and fast changing weather patterns. You can see how the Elephant's Nest Inn served the community in the past as there is nothing else nearby to refresh you from the day's activities.
