It’s certainly a very pleasant change from the usual hotel chains we often use when in the UK. It has an individual charm and faded* grandeur (*I say that as a positive point), the house has an interesting history and perhaps more could be made of this. The staff we met were all friendly and oozed local hospitality for which this part of the North West is known. We would stay here again.

It is a lovely building, the staff are always a delight, friendly and helpful, I just wish that I could book the weather as well, so that I could explore the grounds! Both my trips this year have been wet!

We booked this hotel because of its locality with Cheshire Oaks shopping village. I had also booked a half day spa there through an experience company which was a birthday present for my husband. It was very close to the shopping village, which was excellent as we were foot sore after our shopping trip. The Spa was really good.

Restaurant and breakfast staff were cold age rude.

Restaurant and breakfast staff were cold age rude. The prices charged for the food were too high for the quality of the food. At dinner, the chips weren’t cooked and this was clear, the fish was also too fatty and cold. When this was raised with the waitress she was rude and unapologetic. At breakfast the staff seemed disorganised and chaotic. The sausage was fatty and poor quality, for the prices charged and the quality and variance of food on offer it wasn’t value for money. In addition, the thermal spa was meant to be included in the price. This wasn’t the case the spa staff again were not friendly, felt short changed.

Everything was really close and easy to get to ,Chester/...

Everything was really close and easy to get to ,Chester/Cheshire Oaks ,Ness Gardens and the boat museum were all approx. 15 minutes away. We only had food at the hotel we didn't feel the need to eat anywhere else as the portion sizes were above average and both breakfast and dinner were excellent .

Scenery and extremely friendly staff made a pleasant visit.

Scenery and extremely friendly staff made a pleasant visit. The room whilst requiring some attention was pleasant for the cost. One must be prepared for extra charges on some menu items (if offered). Not really suitable for the physically disabled for which we are,but one visitor was finding the stairs difficult even to the first level with less steep steps, We went up three levels and they became narrower and steeper as we progressed. The stay was enjoyable but we would not be returning to this location.

I stayed at the hotel the night before a flight from Liverpool Airport, was handy for Cheshire oaks, and some last-minute shopping. Had a meal in the restaurant and a few drinks in the bar whilst the footy was on. Was a brilliant start to our holiday. Will stay here again when I visit Chester.

Lovey hotel for the money. Spa facilities quite basic and the pool was freezing. Don’t pay for the overpriced breakfast. Some lovely places to eat locally including foxes tea rooms where we got a lovely full English for half the price!

A wonderful stay at an absolute Gem of a Hotel. We are both in our mid 70s and literally felt like the lords of the manor. Friendly and helpful staff.
