Jedburgh is a little gem - it’s steeped in history. It is spotlessly clean - the local people were all very friendly. Two must visits are Mary Queen of Scots home and Jedburgh Castle Jail. A small town with a few attraction around the local area. Unfortrunatley the local pubs were pritty awful dark and dirty and some were unwelcomming. Non served food after 7pm or 8pm. I must recommend two the following: The Italian resturant in the town serves excellent food and service brillient. If you like Highland cattle you must visit Jackson farm who do an excellent highland cow experience, were you can get up close to the highland cattle and some baby calfs. Jedburgh is a lovely town - although we didn't find many...
Jedburgh is a lovely town - although we didn't find many places to eat and the Spread Eagle doesn't serve evening meals. We had a good meal at the Carters Rest - very friendly staff and good food. Because we had to leave early on the following morning the "interesting" shops weren't open. Do make a point of visiting Mary Queen of Scots house in the town - very interesting. The kitchen is well-appointed with a washing machine, oven/cooktop, microwave, and fridge (no freezer). The property supplied ample supplies for breakfast the whole time we were there, and a few much-appreciated extras. The property is on a picturesque, quiet street up from the river, close to shops, restaurants, the Jedburgh Abbey, and the Castle. It made the whole experience amazing (especially as we had just finished a 7 hour drive to get there). We booked into the restaurant to eat and I have top say the food is off the chart amazing.
