Beautiful country pub, with log burner and wonderful atmosphere. The room was large, with uninterrupted views over the Kent country side. Perfect! The food - amazing, including the option for kippers for breakfast.

Reception at the Plough Inn was friendly and welcoming, immersing us straigth away in the local atmosphere of the pub. The rooms were above expectation with separate seating area and well appointed bathroom provided. All immaculately appointed and cleaned to perfection. The pub setting for dinner is absolutely perfect, providing the opportunity to talk to the locals and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Hostess Marianne taking care of front-of-house is charming and convivial, making us feel at home straight away, while paving the way for the excellent dishes prepared by husband and chef Richard, assuring us of an excellent dining experience. The best review I can give is that I'll be certain to go back to the Plough Inn whenever I am in the area next!

This is a superb hotel. Our room was lovely and the bathroom was a good size. Housekeeping was excellent. Customer service is exceptional. Breakfast is great. We are looking forward to our next stay.

More than adequate and well presented. Courteous staff who were on hand without being O TT Will certainly use the hotel again and recommend it to friends I feel that the principle meals of the day could possibly benefit from a slight increase in choice

We have stayed in The dog & bear Hotel several times now and we have always enjoyed staying there. Everything is always perfectly in order, the rooms as well as the restaurant. A gluten free diet is no problem for the cook, which we appreciate very much. When we recently stayed in the hotel we arrived very late at night due to unforeseen circumstances and that was no problem either. The personnel is always friendly. We travel to the UK twice a year and hope to stay in the Dog & Bear more often.

Beautiful setting and building Friendly welcoming staff I received a free upgrade which meant I got to stay in the main house. I saw a cosy lounge area for afternoon tea. Beautiful grand staircase. Festive decorations made it really warm and cosy. Attended a party in the stable area. Perfect for a sit down meal for around 60 people. Food was fantastic and hot. Service was excellent Late checkout is 11am which leaves time to enjoy the breakfast from a menu. Not by buffet style. Highly recommend.

    We stayed at the start of the summer holidays and hence were...

    We stayed at the start of the summer holidays and hence were caught up in heavy traffic on the A20 enroute to Dover. Apparently that happens quite frequently, so factor this in to travel times. Very close to Leeds Castle, and not far from Canterbury and Sissinghurst so plenty to do in the area.

    The Bowl Inn is not actually in Charing but about 2 miles...

    The Bowl Inn is not actually in Charing but about 2 miles from the village down a narrow and windy country lane. The pub is on its own with hardly any other buildings within walking distance. Charing itself is an extremely attractive village and well worth a visit for an hour or so.

    A warm welcome, a cozy homely room with kettle and generous selection of complimentaries. A very comfortable bed. Good WiFi and Smart TV appreciated 👍 A compact but very practical ensuite shower room. We enjoyed a super-tasty late Sunday lunch in the pub. Room+pub adjacent a great combination for a pre/post cross-channel ferry stop-over. Hope to return ; - ) Thank you to the whole team!

    Friendly greeting from Molly on arrival and she made us feel really welcome. Lovely cosy room with comfy bed in the converted barn with a great shower and luxurious towels. Delicious supper and full breakfast the next morning. Traditional old pub in rural Kent with a great welcome and super food.

    We paid for an evening meal which was exceptional, we left for the tunnel crossing before breakfast, however they supplied us with sandwiches, fruit and drinks. This was excellent and fresh and tasty as the meal the evening before.
