FAQs about hotels in Cambridge

The Inspiration for Genius

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.

Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!

Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.

Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.

Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.

Small and compact, - ideal for exploring on foot.

Small and compact, - ideal for exploring on foot. University buildings dominate the landscape, blended with pleasant open spaces and river views. Contrasting central area offers the usual range of shopping, nightlife etc. Overall, projects the intellectual character you would expect with its museums etc where I would have spent weeks if I had that long!

Lovely city; been several times now from the North East & enjoyed each occasion. Last stay I booked a flat with free parking, only 0.5 miles outside of the city, on a bus route & was able to easily get in to enjoy the city which is relaxing, refined & safe. I drove down in my Tesla due to the flat that I booked having free parking & never used my car whilst there. But it was wonderful travelling down by car. I originally re-discovered Cambridge en route to Kent 2 yrs ago, due to it having lots of Tesla superchargers for charging your electric car. So if you have an EV it’s a nice city to travel to & have a city break without fretting over range anxiety! I used to love London but haven’t been in a while & took the train from Cambridge to London this time, but it was underwhelming. I preferred staying in Cambridge at the Grapevine flat in Clifton, which was a treasure of a place.

A great city, with so much to see.

A great city, with so much to see. Because we only live an hour away, we go regularly for 24 hours. You could stay much longer of you want to enjoy everything. Cars not welcome in town and parking limited so use the Park and Ride if you can. Lots of places to eat, many museums, colleges, chapels, the river, punting, pubs. Good market and interesting shops

Lovely place.

Lovely place. Bicycles seem to be the way to get around, especially for the students. Plenty of lovely restaurants and pubs available for meals. From our accommodation it was about a 10 minute walk to the centre of town.

The city is so interesting.

The city is so interesting. The Wren Library at Trinity College is well worth a visit. All the eateries are top class and offer super service. The Botanical Gardens were on the turn as it is autumn and I think a reduced entrance fee would be a nice gesture. It was nice to encounter different plant species like ground crocuses. Our second visit and we will be back for more!

Staff at reception was very friendly and helpful. Couldn’t do enough for us. The room was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable on the firm side which is better for your back so I didn’t wake up achy. Ample free parking at hotel. Good location 20 min walk to Addenbrookes and 30 min walk to Cambridge central and to riverside. Buses very nearby so we walked to Addenbrookes then got a bus into city - saw all the beautiful old buildings. Cost £2 each. Saved all the hassle of parking at Addenbrookes and city centre.

The best hotel I've stayed at! The owners are extremely kind and helpful, I felt very appreciated and all my needs were met. The room is small but it is very comfortable and it has everything it needs - a flat-screen TV, a small fridge, a kettle. There is also a microwave accessible to all guests. Everything is very clean, I had fresh towels every day. The bus stop is just a minute away across the road. I will definitely stay there one more time if I ever visit Cambridge again.

Located conveniently near to Cambridge Railway station, and a twenty minute walk to the city centre. Taxi rank at the station was available if you didn’t want to walk. Local bars and restaurants located around the hotel offered a good selection of places to eat and drink. The hotel was clean and room was spacious, the staff were friendly and helpful.
