Battle is a pretty little town and very compact.
Battle is a pretty little town and very compact. The Abbey and battle ground is good to see as it is a major part of this country's history. However, if you opt to walk around the battlefield make sure you make use of the free audio guide as this brings the history to life as opposed to just looking at a field. Battle was fine for a couple of hours.
Battle was fine for a couple of hours. We went in on a Saturday when there was a folk festival which was OK. People were very friendly at the town museum and we met a great artist, working with oil paints and coffee on steel. But the highlight of our trip was not Battle but going to Farley's Farm, the former home of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose. Battle is a cute little town with a medieval village vibe. Lots of history surrounded by lush countryside with a short drive to the beach. Lots of quaint and quirky shops with a huge choice of tearooms and eateries. It is well worth a stroll around with a visit to the Abbey to add some culture.Guest review byNina - 10.0
The people in battle are so friendly.
The people in battle are so friendly. We sat and watched the men’s tennis final and the England woman’s football. We visited all of the bars and pubs in the village. It’s a shame about the noisy motorbikes whizzing through other than that it’s very oldy worldly for shops. I would have loved to of stayed longer and do the historical walks they signposted. The Abbey was fantastic, and there are lots of really nice little tea shops. It's a pretty little town and some of the shops looked interesting, but unfortunately I visited on a Monday when most of them were closed. If you want to explore the shops and have a full choice of eating places, I recommend going later in the week. Close to pubs, cafes and shops. Battle high street was excellent. The staff at the George hotel were very friendly and fixed all the problems we had efficiently and with out complaint.
