Ouistreham is a ferry port - it is a small town, but a useful starting point for visiting attractions in the surrounding area. The Normandy landings beaches and sites that have associations with William the Conqueror are all easily reached from here. Also, if you use booking.com, read the emails carefully, it's a complicated registration system if the staff aren't around. We like Ouistreham very much.
We like Ouistreham very much. The old town and church are well worth visiting and the beautiful memorials on the beach are very moving. We are not young (!) but enjoyed the sea air and were able to park our car easily for a gentle walk through the trees to the beach. Lovely. Nice town but really just for a stopover for the ferry which is why I stay there several times a year. Restaurants around the port can be problematic as they are mostly aimed at British tourists providing moules et frites for the adults and burgers for the youngsters and most doing pizzas as well. Difficult to get decent French cuisine there. If you go a bit further into the town proper there is a wider range with some French cuisine but also more pizzas. The town is pretty, right on the beach, and a great location to explore Caen (by bus), the 3 northern D-Day beaches (Sword, Juno 🇨🇦, & Gold). Biking trails take you all over the area, including a short trip along the Orne river to Pegasus Bridge.Guest review byTimCanada

Much better value than the IBIS where we stayed on our arrival and had to pay extra for parking. This Hotel B&B was half the cost of IBIS and included secure parking, comfy bed. The receptionist were particularly helpful and friendly. We didn't have breakfast due to early start.
