Nice is the perfect place to visit, loads to do, great transport facilities. From the old town to the modern shopping district, to the wonderful seafront. The port offers boat trips and the trams go right down into the harbour area. The beautifully kept parks provide seating and children’s facilities. We planned to base ourselves in Nice and explore the French Riviera. We spent 4 nights and 5 days there which was comfortable and time to see most of the sites. We went to Monte Carlo, the ancient village of Eze and Antibes by train and Sainte Tropez by boat. I wouldnt recomment Monte Carlo - it lacked character and soul. I would say Eze and Nice were the highlights. Nice was a delightful surprise and i particulary enjoyed the street scapes and architecture near our hotel (Goldstar Apartments). Nice has lots of good restaurants and the people were friendly. The old town was also very enjoyable with lots to see, shop and eat.Guest review byVincentAustralia - 8.0
The city is walkable.
The city is walkable. I visited the old town, including the cathedral, the Promenade Anglais, the Villa Massena and Castle Hill on day 1 and the Russian Orthodox Church and the Chagall and Matisse Museums on day 2. Nice is centrally located on the French Riviera. The city offers alot of sights, beaches and restaurants while also providing easy access East and West to Monaco/Monte Carlo, Cannes, and St. Tropez by train or by car. Rent a small car and enjoy the coast. Parking is under the next door hotel/casino. 10-15 minutes from the airport. Beach Lounge chairs do fill up by early afternoon. Great city, lots to do and explore, the weather was great for us which helped. Beautiful beach with lots of beachside cafes, which weren’t overly priced compared to the rest of the area. Spent a lot of time around Old town, and hired electric bikes to go up and down the beach. Hotel was very nice, for France room was spacious. We loved the location, there are so many walking distance transportation options. The street is very quiet and the room also. We had a room with a balcony which we would recommend. Across the hotel there is a small shop if you arrive late you can buy some food, drinks etc. we felt very safe in the neighbourhood, we had late night walks. Living area is very large room. Small balcony with side sea view perfect for breakfast. Quiet side road between Bd des Anglais (sea) and Rue de France (local shops). Tram stop just around the corner, from Airport to Port via Garibaldi (for old town). Lovely bakery opposite tram stop.
