Bad Bentheim is best in the summer (or when the weather is good) for walking and cycling. It’s a small town but has enough restaurants to cater for tourists and the locals. The major attractions are the castle and the thermal baths. It's the third time this year I have been to Bad Bentheim.
It's the third time this year I have been to Bad Bentheim. All for short visits with friends and family on cycling holidays. It's a cracking little gem of a town just of the border from Holland. Easily accessible by road, rail and bike. The railway station is on the DB main ICE line between Amsterdam and Berlin and there are plenty of local rail services from Hengelo in Holland. Although the town centre is quite small it has a great castle that overlooks the town and is definitely worth a visit. There is also the city park and surrounding woodlands that off various walks and cycling options. There are plenty of shops for supplies with several supermarkets and retail stores. Bad Bentheim is a nice town, but not much friendly to tourists. Shops and restaurants close early, which is especially strange on Saturdays. For instance the bike renting shop closed at 1300h, so we had to hurry to get back in time.Guest review byHansNetherlands - 6.0

I spent a night on my way to NL, the room was clean and cosy, comfortable bed, fresh air and clean bathroom. The hotel is in a calm little town, ideal for an evening run or a morning refreshment walk around the castle. Also the parking was spacy enough for turning a big car.
