Bacharach is truly a hidden gem in Germany.
Bacharach is truly a hidden gem in Germany. I had one day to explore Germany before meeting up with my tour group, and I read Rick Steve's Germany book and he recommended the Rhine Valley. He also recommends Bacharach as a city to set up base in. Bacharach is such an interesting town! So much history, much of the original buildings are still intact and in use. I did the Bacharach historical walk from Rick Steve's book and it took about an hour and a half. So relaxing and enriching. there's also a K-D tour boat that stops in Bacharach so you can travel up and down the Rhine and view sites such as the Lorely,Guest review byPowley - 2.0

The area is so walkable.
The area is so walkable. Wish we had more time to do the hop on and off River Cruises. We would have needed to visit on Saturday and Sunday for the hop on and off. The food it outstanding. Everywhere we ate was excellent from the Stuebers Restaurant -up scale food. To casual outdoor dinning at Potshof-Flammkuchen, Cafe Bistro NOY- small intimate cafe traditional Armenia food and best fries in town, Altes Haus -Traditional German- Historical building and Best herbed breaded schnitzel we have ever eaten. Bacharach is a charming historical half-timbered village with its own castle, ruins, and remnants of city wall. It’s fun to poke around and is excellently situated for exploring the middle Rhine. The view was out to the river, over the restaurant's patio and the busy railway line, which can be noisy with the windows open, but is sufficiently sound-proofed with the windows closed; and it can be enjoyable to watch various types of trains. The hotel is centrally located in town, and has an excellent restaurant: Stubers. Tight parking spaces on site, though plenty of parking nearby too. I am very strict on cleanness but here I would say it is beyond my expectation. The stuffs there were very nice and friendly. This hotel is dog friendly as well.
