Beautiful small town nested in the Coffee growing region. Great location to explore around other towns, and the famous Cocora Valley. I am not sure if Salento or Filandia was used as the inspiration for Encanto (the movie). Calle Real in Salento is full of small arts and crafts stores and plenty of restaurants to choose from. We spent 2 night there and thought it was the right amount of time. We ate dinner at El Patio which had live music, good food and service. Had lunch at Casa Willy’s (jeep) great food and good service too. You can walk around and it is very safe. My only recommendation is try not to drive into Salento at night, very dark, narrow road with tons of sharp curves, this drive at night is only for people experienced in driving in Colombia. It is a great town with a lot of vibrancy and energy! The town itself is quite small, but it offers a lot for a 3-to 4-day stay. Numerous restaurants offer excellent food options. The main square is vibrant at night, and it's worth spending a couple of hours there, soaking in the energy and fun. The main street (Calle Real) has great shopping options for tourists. It also has a couple of places that offer great live music. Mirador and the steps leading to the top offer great views of the mountains and the valley. The town was cute and clean. People were friendly. It’s an easy walking town with fun live music and places to eat and drink. The cócora valley hike is a crazy touristy zoo if you dont go super early. If you like to hike then go counterclockwise and hike up to the hummingbird sanctuary first. Jeremy kept in good contact via whatsapp while we were reaching Salento from Bogotá. We arrived quite late compared to the expected time and he was very supportive. He also speaks very good English which helped as we were very tired when we arrived! The room is very tidy and cosy, clean, and spacious enough and so is the bathroom. Very nice breakfast, different every day! WiFi working well and hairdryer available on request. The hotel and especially the little garden are beautiful. Everything was perfectly clean and the staff more than welcoming and friendly. After we had arrived in the early morning hours we could store our baggage’s and even were provided a breakfast. The room decor is lovely and there has been attention to detail...water fountain (jug) and glasses in the lobby, reading lights built into the headboard of the bed.
