The Botanic Gardens are small but oh so beautiful. It was so fascinating to learn more about the volcanic past of this area. We loved wandering the streets and looking at the architectural features and unique landscape surrounding the town. Friendly locals and old fashioned country manners. We drove out to other areas to explore more, just amazing! Loved everything about our weekend stay.

We loved the tour of the Clock Tower, the view from Mt Leura for sunset and the Lakes around the area. The Hampden Hotel was a great place to eat with a good variety on the menu - booking essential. The Lake Edge Cafe was the perfect place for lunch with a serene outlook and delicious meals. The Botanical Gardens were beautiful and peaceful overlooking the lakes and town.

Camperdown is a lovely town with lakes and gardens and historical sites such as the ClockTower. People are friendly. There is plenty of cafe's and shops with two main supermarkets. It is a good place to stay and drive to the great ocean road.

Although I had aimed to stay 2 nights, could only stay 1.
Although I had aimed to stay 2 nights, could only stay 1. Camperdown itself is a town with a 2 klm avenue. It has some beautiful historic buildings and the towns history is worth researching.
Not far from Camperdown you have Lake Edge Cafe at Tesbury on the Purrumbete Estate. On leaving Camperdown on my way to my next destination on a very wintry day, I visited and was greeted with a very warm welcome by all the ladies working there. The coffee was excellent along with the view across the lake. On my next visit I will be sure to return, not just for coffee, but for lunch.

It was just so nice.
It was just so nice. Lots of great buildings to photograph or just admire. The Visitor Information Centre was great and there were plenty of choices for breakfast/brunch, though I probably would avoid the The Loaf and Lounge. Sign out front should have told me. It said "Be nice or leave" which to me is a bit off, especially when you walk in the place and it isn't super busy and the staff seem to be waiting for someone to be nasty. There were other places that were doing a roaring trade and obviously don't have an issue with the clientele.

Light breakfast was included. We left booking to the last minute and couldn't find anywhere to stay along the great ocean road. Camperdown was 40 minutes away from the great ocean road but was convenient on our driving holiday from Melbourne airport through Bendigo, Ballarat and the Great Ocean Road. Pretty country town. Beautiful avenue of trees through the town and good choice of dinner options.

I absolutely loved Camperdown. It has so much going for it. The bed in this room was super comfortable. I would stay here again for sure. The pub down the road, the only one open I think was good too. Great chicken Kyiv. Hampden Hotel. Loved the beautiful old buildings here.

Mill is a delightful place to stay! The Vicarage was a cosy, comfortable and atmospheric place to stay. The Mill was peaceful and had great access to the sights of Camperdown centre. I will return with family to stay again. Thank you!
