Allen, as mentioned over and over in other reviews, is the best host EVER. This kind of people makes the difference when traveling like we do, where the main goal is to enjoy the culture and people, as much as the places we visit. Allen went way beyond expectations on helping us with whatever we may need (from train schedules, arranging a great driver for a day-long tour, giving us recommendations for local places, to taking his bike and buying us some cold beers after hours, or getting up to prepare us an unusually early morning breakfast to go, due to our very early schedule), overall making us feel like his true guests despite the commercial relationship. Well-travelled, Jaffna-native but with many years in Europe, Allen is the kind of person that you hope you have more time to get to know better, and that will remain as a highlight of any trip. The property is his own home, where you rent some rooms. It is a very quiet spot in a green and shady compound in a cul-de-sac, a great respite from some of the Jaffna frenzy. Located a quick 5-min. tuk-tuk ride from the train station, it is also near the main Hindu temple of the city, a couple of blocks away. The room we rented had its own exclusive bathroom, but crossing the living room. There was another room with a full private bathroom, not available at the time. The house has a quaint feeling, very cozy and clean. The AC in the room worked fine and it was very welcomed. Breakfast was great, abundant and tasty, prepared by Allen on the spot.

Everything is excellent! Berty and Hilda are the most considerate and caring hosts ever. They really go out of their way to make sure you get the most out of your stay in Jaffna. They arranged for a tuk tuk to pick me up from the bus station, they helped me plan my itinerary, they provide a delicious breakfast, they gave me a tasty packed breakfast when I left early to catch a train, etc. etc. the room and bathroom was large, clean and cool I’m really pleased that I chose to stay there and do so again in the future.

My husband, two children and I shared a family room, and we had ample space and ample air conditioning. The room is off of a shared kitchen/lounge space and a balcony, which was really nice for preparing snacks and relaxing. Everything was very clean and nicely situated. The biggest highlight of this place was our wonderful hosts. The host family could not have been more gracious. We happened to be in Jaffna for the new year, and they took us under their wing, sharing their traditions (including treats, dressing, a visit to the temple and fireworks at night). Their sweet kids played with our kids and, all in all, they made us feel completely at home in this beautiful city. We're very grateful for their generosity and hospitality and would absolutely recommend this place to everyone.

This property is super clean, it shines .!The proprietor is helpful and he allowed us to leave bags in our room when we we went on a trip to delft island, basically he gave us the rooms free for that extra night as he was quiet at the beginning of the season in Jaffna , he is a kind relaxed gentleman, he is not doing food at the moment but he provided a good kitchen with microwave , kettle and fully stocked with cutlery and crockery in his beautiful home apartment, the apartment had a huge terrace balcony for relaxing. Great location, just off the road making it very peaceful at night. Good air con and fan. Great size room with balcony overlooking the garden and plantation. Good host and Sri Lankan breakfast. They also do laundry, which was a god sent in a city with no laundrettes.

Adi let me store my bags at the homestay after I checked out, and even to take a shower when I came back to pick them up, which was lovely and meant that I could enjoy water activities such as the Keerimalai bath and the beach. Definitely get the breakfast (you can add it on once you're there). It's delicious and excellent value. The property is cute, with a pond built into the front walk (with fish you can look at 😍), an interior courtyard, and my room had an attached outdoor bathroom (with a roof and walls) that let in light while giving privacy, so I felt like I was in a private garden for my shower.

Raj, the host is a great guy. Just the best. The rooms are spacious. The AC nice and cold plus the ceiling fan aids further in cooling the space down after a long day out in the Sri Lankan heat. the showers are quite exceptional by Sri Lankan standards (good pressure, hot water, and somewhat separated/divided from the rest of the bathroom). Bed was comfy and the room even had a desk and a place to hang clothes which were nice bonuses.
