Shimbwe is a wonderful area. It's only 20-30 minutes out of Moshi, but it feels much more isolated. There are plenty of guided activities around to do, such as coffee tours and waterfall hikes, and you can also just walk around an explore on your own. It is a very friendly village community. The Guest House is really great. The views from common areas are spectacular, the rooms are big and have nice hot showers, the chef makes delicious, fresh meals each day. Victor, Macho and the team are all incredibly friendly and welcoming and will help you with anything you need.

The stay was super very clean beds and property. We had a really great night. The breakfast in the morning surprised us very much. It was just delicious. The support for activities by the hotel management was also great. We want to come again after we have visited the Serengeti.

Fantastic, the place is ideally located near the center and bus station so it’s really easy if you have an early bus. The house is beautiful and big, with a nice balcony, I could even see the klilimandjaro from living room and breakfast . Bedroom is very clean , big and nice which for the price is surely the best ratio quality of town. What makes this place truly unique are the very kind owners taking care of you, helping and making sure you have all the assistance in Moshi. Food is absolutely amazing , best diner I had in three month traveling in Africa. Definitely the place you wanna go to if you are backpacking in Africa and looking for authenticity at a great place , thanks

Perfect view of Mt Kilimanjaro. Besides the breakfast, they made us awesome traditional meals. Materuni Homes is a whole experience besides a comfortable stay. The green gardens, hike down to the waterfall, view of the mountain while having a drink or just sipping a coffee freshly brewed from the kitchen.

The accommodation is perfect for exploring Moshi. Restaurants are close by and city center is reachable in walking distance. The owner is extremely reactive, friendly and helpful to arrange transfers and tours to explore the area. Highly recommended!!!

The accommodation is conveniently located not far from the Air Tanzania shuttle bus drop-off point. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I suffered from altitude sickness, and they went above and beyond to assist me, helping me get the necessary medication quickly and recover comfortably. Breakfast was served with a stunning view of Mount Kilimanjaro's peak, which was a highlight of my stay. While the rooms may not be spotless, they were equipped with a mosquito net, air conditioning, and hot water, which made the stay comfortable. There was a bit of noise from outside, but it wasn’t too disruptive. Overall, I highly recommend this place for its excellent staff and convenient location!

We had an amazing stay at Lion Kings Homestay. We even got upgraded for free to a bigger room. The staff is gorgeous and very helpful, gave good recommendations and prepared an amazing breakfast. We even extended our stay there. The facilities were as described and spotless clean. The check-in and -out were flexible, even though we booked spontaneously and arrived in the evening. The location was quiet and easy reachable with bajaji, Sophia the housekeeper can organise for you if needed. I highly recommend and will stay there again.

    The staff there were very friendly, kind and easy to get a long with. The view of the mountain was also amazing and the whole place was super quiet as well. Also you can do multiple tours to experience the local village life too so very worth it!

    We had an excellent stay at MKoani. Dee, our host was very welcoming and helpful at proposing activities and restaurants. The home stay was in a quiet neighbourhood a bit outside the hustle bustle of the town. There are several restaurants at walking distance in the neighbourhood. Special thanks to Muddy who drove us around to visit the waterfall, coffee village and the hot spring. He was very helpful around town as well. We also had our clothes washed for a very cheap price. Oh forgot to mention the yummy vegan breakfast Dee had us prepared.

    Beautiful guesthouse, lovely helpful staff, tasty food. I cant imagine a more lovely place to stay, it's even nicer than the photos show. Setting is in a quiet jungle village away from noise and dust.

    The perfect start on our trip to Africa! The guesthouse staff were extraordinary, very helpful, provided tour guides for a variety of trips, bonfires and fabulous meals. Very warm and accommodating staff. The environment is spectacular. A view of kilimanjaro, baobab trees on the horizon and lush tropical fruit trees surrounding the guesthouse. The guesthouse is set in the small village of Shimbwe where we were able to experience a slice of a small village life A great, quiet, fascinating start for our trip in africa!

    Property had everything you need. Room was clean, comfortable with en-suite and toiletries provided. Breakfast was exceptional and personally prepared by Far. Far is a great host and can arrange anything for you: taxis, tours, services and local facilities. A little out of town but in a quiet area and only a short ride to anywhere. Wi-Fi was via hot spot due to some current problems with internet provider. Thank you Far for a great stay and for welcoming us to your family village. A very special experience.

    Dee is an exceptional host! Felt welcomed and at home from the minute we arrived. She creates a very warm atmosphere where we felt comfortable chilling in the common areas. She helped us arrange transport and a village walking tour! We were sad to leave so soon. Comfy room with a good fan. All parts of the house were very clean and the garden is gorgeous. We had home-cooked dinner here one night and it blew us away and was very romantic with candlelight in the garden. Dee has a great community in town as well!
