I loved staying in a traditional house with its own bath. I stayed there before going to rabbit island. It was very relaxing to be away from the big touristic places. The owner was very nice.

We we’re welcomed by the friendly owner and his beautiful cat. He provided lots of information on nearby restaurants, shops, and temples (just around the corner). Everything was impeccably clean. Lots of toiletries were provided, so you do not need to bring your own. It was the perfect peaceful stay halfway the Shimanami Kaido. Would love to return here some day.

The place is BEAUTIFUL. They really did a good job rebuilding a Japanese traditional style home which is also quite modern at the same time. Common areas and the rooms are well taken care of. Everything was perfectly clean and both the bathrooms and the kitchen are fully furnished and very comfortable to use. The staff is also very helpful when needed, even if they might not be at the reception all the time.

Our stay at the hotel was exceptional. We enjoyed every moment—from the staff, the ambiance, the room, and the place as a whole. A special mention goes to the dinner we had at the hotel, prepared by Chef Kenya Akita, who undoubtedly deserves three Michelin stars. Chef Akita, a Japanese culinary artist, trained for 13 years in France at a Michelin-starred restaurant before returning to Japan to adapt his extensive culinary expertise to the local cuisine. We have been traveling for 7 weeks in Japan and this was one of the best stays we have experienced. The old house has been very nicely renovated. Our host Mari (who is an architect) was a brilliant host. She is still improving her English (and getting better!), and we had great conversations in the evening (with the help of Google translator) - and I do not speak any Japanese (except for a few words). The food she prepared was very tasty and nicely prepared. And we had a really good tea ceremony with two elderly ladies from the village (great fun!). If we would be coming back to the area - then I would stay here again. Many thanks Mari.
