The place was lovely and he made it feel like a home. There is great food that he cooks himself. He gave us an room upgrade without charging extra cost. Can only recommend this place to others, it was a great place for us to unwind after some hectic days in new delhi.

This is by far one of my favorite stays in India. The room was clean and didn't smell stuffy, it was simple but nice, and overall a super comfortable stay. Tej Prakash was super kind and helpful, he gave us lots of helpful recommendations and checked in on us regularly to make sure we were having a great stay.

Our room was perfect, we slept like babies, the water hot and pressure was awesome! Location is prime, right off the Ghats but still quiet enough to get all the rest you need! Vishnu is known for his delicious chai and heartfelt conversation! He knows everything and everyone in Varanasi and can help you plan and execute your adventures with a quickness.. He truly cares about his guests and genuinely wants the best for you! If you want to go on a real adventure ask him about his street food tour, so awesome!! Over all we loved our stay and will always choose Maa Durga and Vishna when we visit Varanasi!!! Thank you for everything!!!

Staying here feels less like being at a guest house and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. The rooms are clean, and the shower has hot water. Just keep in mind, that if you have large luggage, the room size might feel a little tight. It’s an experience that leaves you with lasting memories of Varanasi’s hospitality and charm. Highly recommended!

My experience at Banaras Rest House was nothing short of perfect! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel like family — warm smiles, genuine hospitality, and always ready to help with anything I needed. The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of Varanasi, just a short walk from the ghats and the Ganga. I loved waking up early and taking a peaceful stroll by the river. The rest house itself is clean, beautifully maintained, and full of charm. My room was comfortable, well-ventilated, and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. What really stood out was the calm and homely atmosphere — a perfect escape from the busy streets outside. The rooftop view of the Ganges during sunrise was absolutely breathtaking, and the staff even helped arrange a boat ride that became one of the highlights of my trip. If you’re looking for an affordable yet truly authentic stay in Varanasi, Banaras Rest House is the place to be. For me, the location was a major plus point - the boutique is located right on the main road, so it’s easy to get to and there are plenty of shops around to grab a bite. It also means I was able to quickly get an auto to get to the varanasi ghats I came to see from Gurgaon. Rooms were also spacious and clean, just as showcased. The owner was on site when I was there and really sociable - he helped draw up a plan for my visit and catered to my questions on the city. I only wished I could stay longer, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to call home in a new city!
