The hotel is about ten minutes walk from the bus station and the train station and is very close to the town hall and the river. After a very comfortable night the breakfast is superb with good helpings of bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs. The hot chocolate was a nice change from the different coffees, along with a croissant. The breakfast room was a calm area with a nice view out on to the street. It is easy from the hotel to reach the river and cross the different bridges over the icy water to get good views of the city before making for the station.

We have planned long awaited Northern Lights trip at Kiruna as this year there are lots of activities on sun and have greater chances and views of Northern lights. We have decided to do road trip from Södertälje to Kiruna but as the distance is approximately 1300 kms which would requires 15 to 16 hours and we decided to have break journey with nice overnight stay in hotel and then I found this. Great hotel just off the E4 but was surprisingly quiet given its beside a very busy road. It has ample parking spaces. We had a warm welcome by Kristofer the owner. Check in was quick and simple by girl at the reception. Kristofer is very very helpful in showing our room, the free of charge coffee and tea machines and the water stations etc. The family room itself was very good. Breakfast was nice and mostly fresh. Situated in the heart of Umeå, Elite Hotel Mimer faces the Twin Towns Park and the main commercial pedestrian street. Guests have free WiFi along with free access to a sauna and fitness centre. Wow, I was just passing Umea and needed a stay for one night. At the Mimer I found a perfect place to stay, actually I already plan to go back. Very friendly staff, clean room with comfy bed, exceptional breakfast buffet. I felt welcomed and was sad to leave after just one night.

Love it! Our breakfast was unexpectedly nice! For such low price they serve really great breakfast with scrambled eggs, fruits, vegetables, yogurts, cereals, cheese, ham and even reindeer meat!

The location was very convenient. Everything was easily accessible by walking - shopping, restaurants, bus and train stations. The breakfast was exceptional. The hours were reasonable, the selection was great, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere of the hotel was great. It was an older building, but obviously had been completely updated, so it had a lot of character but was very comfortable. The eating area was in a large glass covered courtyard that really added to the experience.

Hotell Gamla Fängelset is a converted prison from 1861 located in central Umeå and offers free WiFi and breakfast. All rooms have windows and shared bathroom facilities. We stayed at the Annexet appartment and it was a fantastic stay. Very spacious, clean, with fully equipped kitchen. The breakfast buffet had a very good variety. The staff was helpful and polite. City center is within walking distance and bus stops are at convenient distance, too.
