Matsukawa
Set in Matsukawa, 24 km from The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, ワールドカリーの館 すぱいすろーど offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The hotel located along the Oito Line that was accessible by car or taxi from Shinano-Matsukawa, Kita-Hosono or Hosono station. We had multiple email and message communications with the owners. Atsu responded to reassure that our commute concern would be solved. He would pick us up and drop off at Hosono station. The price of the hotel was very affordable and could walk to train station if having no luggage. Atsu was very accommodating to our trip plan change. He was thoughtful to drop us to the Shinano-Matsukawa station that the waiting area was warmer & was in town. Guest rooms were on the 2nd floor of a Curry Restaurant. Atsu helped carrying the suitcase up to the room & brought us furniture that we needed. He was also the chef of the restaurant. The food was yummy. We highly recommended this
Nagano
Close to Togakushi Shrine, 宿屋白金家 yadoya-shiroganeya 1日1組限定2名から8名様まで 全館貸切り 伝統的建造物の旅籠宿 Traditional culture experience is set in Nagano and has a hot spring bath and garden. Shiroganeya is a traditional Japanese minshuku. Our host Maki-san was truly exceptional. She made sure our family of 6 were well-fed, well-rested, and well-prepared for our little hike to the main Togakushi shrine, which is a 7-min drive away. The dinner prepared for us was superb as well - at least 7-courses! I liked that the house itself has a lot of history. Dinner is served with precious chinaware that are more than a century-old, but still in very good shape and colour. There is adequate heating throughout the house, especially important for a cold winter stay. Maki-san also had a stash of toy cars and trains that kept our boy occupied. There’s just so much to rave about this place. Hopefully we’ll be back for a second visit!
Nagiso
Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 9.1 km of Otsumago and 9.3 km of Kotoku-ji Temple. Truly one of the highlights of our time in Japan. The building, rooms, and onsen are incredible and the hospitality can't be beat. We were caught in a rainstorm before our scheduled pickup and the owners so kindly dried our sopping wet clothes and shoes. After that, we warmed up in the onsen which left our skin feeling so smooth and headed to a delicious and expansive dinner. We finished the night falling asleep to the roaring sound of the waterfall due to the heavy rains. We'll definitely be back.
Kiso
Tsutaya Tokinoyado Kazari features an open-air bath, free bikes, a garden and bar in Kiso. This 4-star ryokan provides a spa experience, with its hot spring bath and hot tub. Everything, the hotel itself is beautiful, the surrounding area is very picturesque and quiet. The food is managing and the staff is extremely nice and polite. One of the best hotels I stayed at.

Boasting large hot spring baths and great Suwa Lake views, Kamisuwa Onsen Shinyu provides Japanese-style guestrooms with a modern touch in a relaxing ambience. Spacious traditional room, elegantly furnished, and very clean. The staff took great care of us. We had a dinner at their restaurant and it was extraordinary. Probably the best meal we had in our 10 days trip.
Asama Onsen, Matsumoto
Located within 6.1 km of Matsumoto Station and 8.5 km of The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, Matsumoto Jujo provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Matsumoto. A very chill place and ideal to start our holiday in Japan after a very long journey
Hakuba
Hakuba Tokyu Hotel is an 8-minute drive from JR Hakuba Station and a 3-minute drive from Happo-One Bus Terminal. A free 2-way shuttle to both destinations is provided upon prior reservation. Enjoyed my first time in Hakuba experience. The hotel, staff and breakfast were lovely. Thank you!
Shibu Onsen, Yamanouchi
Located in the centre of Shibu hot-spring area and a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Train Station, Sakaeya offers Japanese-style accommodations. A truly wonderful experience start to finish. We booked the twin room with private external bathroom (i.e an outdoor relaxation area with a hot tub fed from the hot spring water). When you walk into the room you feel instantly relaxed. Supreme luxury and comfort. Our breakfast and dinner were included, and it was absolute fine dining, some of the best food we have ever eaten (served up in our own private dining room!) The service was second to none, we felt absolutely spoiled every minute of our stay. An unforgettable experience.
